Two Voice Poem: Arthur & Mr. Hampton

Arthur
Mr. Hampton
I just thought he was the “junk Man”

An unexpected friendship
He bailed me out of juvie and handed me a list

The list had seven items,

What seemed like plain junk

More than meets the eye
Lightbulbs, Foil, Mirrors, Pieces of wood…

Together

The Throne of the Third Heaven
He didn’t give up on me.
He called me Saint Arthur.

We grew together
He encouraged

Valuable lessons

We

Better Together

I saw him as the boy who tried to hit me with a brick

An unexpected friendship

I needed his help and knew he had potential

Important items that is.

Held lessons of beauty
More than meets the eye

Glass bottles, coffee cans & cardboard

We built
The Throne of the Third Heaven

The boy who threw a brick at me
He was the one who saved me.
We grew together

He was persistent

Were Learned

Are
Better Together
